Pedro Linares is a full professor in the Department of Industrial Organization of the ICAI School of Engineering, Director of the BP Chair of Energy and Sustainability and Co-founder and Director of Economics for Energy. In addition, he is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Research in Technology (IIT), a Research Associate at MIT CEEPR and EPRG, Cambridge U., and a Senior Fellow at EsadeEcPol.
When it comes to teaching and research, he likes to define himself as a jack of all trades (accepting, of course, the negative connotations that go along with it). He is interested in many topics, almost all connected to a broad idea of sustainability, understood as a comprehensive concept that encompasses the economy, the environment, social capital, innovation and justice. He focuses most of his research on the relationship between energy, the economy and the environment, and in particular sustainable energy policies, energy efficiency and energy modeling. However, he is also interested in decision-making (especially multi-criteria decision methods), social justice and university policy, among other subjects. He has published on almost all of these topics in the most relevant journals in the industry. He has also participated in numerous research and consulting projects for public and private companies and institutions in Spain, Europe and Latin America. He is a member of AEEE-IAEE and the International Society on MCDM.
