"inspiration for children with cancer"
The project aims to improve the emotional support for children who are hospitalized with cancer by providing a kit which includes the Leli and Leliot dolls, two astronauts. 'Leli' is short for 'leukemia' and 'lymphoma', while 'Leliot' is short for 'leukemia, lymphoma and other types of cancer.' They are characters with whom children aged one to 12 years of age can identify during their treatment process and share their feelings about diagnosis and recovery.
The project was inspired by the 'DODOI' program by the Fundación Abrale de Brasil, a partner of Funcolombiana, and aims to make it easier for children to communicate with medical staff, their parents, caregivers and psychologists and express themselves during hospitalization. The intervention therefore centers around a kit designed to provide emotional support to children with cancer and to their parents and caregivers.
