The Fundación Cepsa Chair launches a new research grant program at the UCA

    • The Fundación Cepsa Chair supports projects related to energy transition, efficiency and the circular economy
    • Research initiatives must last for one year and funding will be up to 10,000 euros
The first research grant program at the University of Cadiz (UCA) for projects in fields related to energy transition, efficiency and circular economy was approved at the recent joint committee of the Fundación Cepsa Chair at the UCA.

The program aims to support new lines of research and promote existing ones that develop projects in the aforementioned areas. The objective of the Fundación Cepsa Chair is to consolidate and strengthen the University's research teams and support emerging researchers who are developing projects in new energy sectors related to Cepsa's 2030 strategy. The grants will award up to ten thousand euros per project, which must last for twelve months.

Estrella Blanco, head of Fundación Cepsa, pointed out that "the Chair has a great interest in promoting quality research at the University. We believe in the potential of UCA researchers, whose projects can help lead the way in the development of the energy transition."

This committee session, which also addressed the 2022 action plan in addition to other issues, was attended virtually by the Vice-Rector of Science Policy of the UCA, Maria Jesus Mosquera; the head of Fundación Cepsa in Andalusia and the Canary Islands, Jesus Velasco; and the director of the Cepsa Research Center, Joana Frontela. In addition, the director of the School of Engineering (ETSI) of Algeciras, Paloma Cubillas; the head of R+D+i at the UCA, Ignacio Turias; the head of Fundación Cepsa in the Campo de Gibraltar, Estrella Blanco; and the director of the Fundación Cepsa Chair, Francisco Trujillo, attended the session in person.

The Fundación Cepsa Chairs

Fundación Cepsa Chairs at the Universities of Cadiz, Huelva, Seville and La Laguna and the Technical University of Madrid are continually strengthened thanks to the contributions and involvement of the company's professionals and the academic institutions committed to improving research, training, knowledge flow, and innovation.

Fundación Cepsa Chairs have allowed thousands of students to approach the world of work and bring university professors closer to the reality of the energy and chemical sectors. The exchange of knowledge and experience between Cepsa professionals, university teachers, and students has meant, for two decades, the professional enrichment of all of them. For all these reasons, today Cepsa is an outstanding partner of these universities.
