Fundación Cepsa Presents Social Value Awards at Ceremony Marked by COVID-19

    • In this edition, Fundación Cepsa distributed over €70,000 in Huelva among six associations from the province.
    • Once again this year, a Special Employee Award, voted on by Cepsa professionals, goes to an entity from the province. 
    • Since 2005, 83 projects from social organizations in the province have received awards.
Fundación Cepsa’s Social Value Awards ceremony was held this morning, online from Huelva due to the pandemic. The event was attended by the regional government of Andalusia’s Councilor for Equality, Social Policies and Reconciliation, Rocío Ruiz; the City of Huelva’s Councilor for Social Policies and Equality, María José Pulido; the provincial secretary of the UGT-FICA trade union in Huelva, Luciano Gómez; the director of Student Care and Guidance at the University of Huelva, Mariló Guzmán; the head of social policies of the CC.OO. trade union in Huelva, Jose Miguel Pino; and Ana Infante, representing the employees of Cepsa in Huelva, all members of the panel. In addition to the winners, the event was attended by their sponsors, other entities that have participated in this edition, and Jesus Velasco, representative of the Cepsa Foundation in Andalusia and the Canary Islands.

In this edition, award winners included the Association "A New Horizon for my Neighborhood", the Carabela Youth Association, FEAFES-Huelva Mental Health, Cienciaterapia-the National Association for Educating Hospitalized Children in Science, and the Association of Asperger Syndrome and Mild or Moderate ASD of Huelva. The winning projects for the 16th Edition of these solidarity awards were chosen for recognition by the panel that met last November.

Likewise, the Afán Association supporting people with Alzheimer's Disease, CAMINAR, from Bollullos Par del Condado, received one of the 'Special Employee Awards' given by Cepsa professionals, which also went to associations in Colombia and Brazil.

At the ceremony, the regional government of Andalusia’s Councilor for Equality, Social Policies and Reconciliation, Rocio Ruiz offered words of congratulations and support to the winners and thanked "Fundación Cepsa for its effort and commitment to the society of Huelva as a whole and to the most disadvantaged groups that, in a particularly complicated year, have seen their situation of vulnerability aggravated even more". She added that these Social Value Awards are "an essential recognition because they help put a face with the committed people who fight every day and give everything for others, acting as role models". She further highlighted the "sensitivity of Fundación Cepsa in launching a specific section in these awards for projects related to COVID and its impact on society".

Meanwhile, Teresa Millán had words of gratitude for the 46 associations that presented projects, for the essential work they do in our area, which has been reinforced in these difficult times of health, economic and social crisis and which have such good professionals and such good initiatives, in addition to the solidarity sponsors, Cepsa employees, whose involvement makes possible the development of the Social Value Awards, a benchmark of Fundación Cepsa’s social action program.

Winning associations and projects

The project presented by the Un Nuevo Horizonte para mi Barrio Association, “Despierta con NH” (Wake up with NH), will address the needs of children and youth in the Pérez Cubillas neighborhood, providing educational, social, and cultural activities to this vulnerable population.

The Carabela Youth Association will allocate the total value of the award to “Acompañamiento digital en tiempos Covid19” (Digital Support in Times of COVID-19), an action that gives the submitted project its name.

Another award will go to the project “Fortalezas y Resiliencia ante el Covid-19” (Strengths and Resilience against the Covid-19), presented by FEAFES - Huelva Mental Health. Thanks to Fundación Cepsa, programs will be carried out to minimize psychological damage caused by the pandemic to the people the association serves and their families in rural areas.

Meanwhile, Cienciaterapia - The National Association for the Provision of Science Education for Children in Hospital will launch a project consisting of “Talleres online de ciencia y Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible para niños y niñas hospitalizados”(Online Workshops on Science and Sustainable Development Objectives for Hospitalized Children), which gives it its name.

Finally, the Huelva Association of Asperger's Syndrome and mild or moderate ASD aims to carry out an individualized plan that meets the specific needs of those it serves with the project called “Programa terapéutico y de fomento de la autonomía personal” (Therapeutic and Personal Independence Program).

In addition, the Afán Association supporting people with Alzheimer's Disease, CAMINAR, from Bollullos Par del Condado, Special Employee Award by decision of Cepsa employees, presented the project called "Promoting Wellness". This project will make it possible to work on health education skills, healthy habits and psychological support for Alzheimer's patients and their relatives or caregivers.

This special award is given by Cepsa professionals to one candidate from the two selected in each regional round (Huelva, Madrid, Campo de Gibraltar, the Canary Islands, Portugal, Colombia and Brazil) of the Social Value Awards.

Social Value Awards

The Social Value Awards are the most powerful social action initiative of the Fundación Cepsa. Its aim is to recognize and promote social projects that foster the inclusion and well-being of collectives or people in a situation of social vulnerability in countries or localities in which Cepsa has a greater presence.

First established in Huelva, competitions are also now held in Madrid, Campo de Gibraltar, the Canary Islands, Portugal, Colombia and Brazil.
