The course started last November and is a product of the Company’s partnership with the UCA through the Fundación Cepsa Chair, focusing on specialization in energy. This training is given at the company's own facilities in San Roque. Lecturers include prominent professionals with a wealth of experience in the various subjects and fields the course addresses. Participants were selected on the merits of their academic achievements and selection criteria established by the University and Cepsa. Students from ETSIA – an academic institution with which Cepsa has been collaborating since 1973 – will be able to complete their degree or master’s at the company.
The director of the San Roque Energy Park (PESR), Rosendo Rivero, participated in a meeting with these students to find out how their experience had gone at the Company’s facilities and to gauge their impression of the educational partnership in the field of engineering. In addition, Juan José Gómez, coordinator of the Cepsa course, and Estrella Blanco, head of Fundación Cepsa in the Campo de Gibraltar, attended, while Gabriel González, co-coordinator of the course, Marusa Arias, director of the Secretariat of the Campus Bahía de Algeciras, and Francisco Trujillo, director of the Fundación Cepsa Chair, participated on behalf of the UCA.
Estrella Blanco emphasized "the importance of companies and universities being united and working side by side in academic training, in order young engineers to meet the demands of today's business sector. We are very satisfied with this example of collaborative teaching with the University of Cadiz, which was also a pioneer in its day."
