- Fundación Moeve backs the city council in a flagship international event focused on rethinking sustainable urban development in the 21st century
Organized by Fundación Santa Cruz Sostenible, with support from Fundación Moeve, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Tenerife Island Council, and the Palmetum, the in-person event will take place at the Palmetum of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It will bring together nationally and internationally recognized experts in urban planning, sustainability, innovation, and civic engagement.
Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez said the second edition “cements Santa Cruz as a key hub for debate on the future of our cities, bringing together professionals, experts, and residents to reflect collectively on how to build a more innovative, sustainable city equipped to meet future challenges.”
He added that “addressing Santa Cruz’s urban future means planning with vision, responsibility, and participation—especially in strategic areas that allow us to transform the city based on sustainability, modernization, and quality of life.”
Deputy Mayor and Vice President of Fundación Santa Cruz Sostenible, Carlos Tarife, noted that “City 360º was created to generate ideas, knowledge, and participation around the kind of city we want to build in the coming decades.”
Tarife emphasized that “Santa Cruz is at a pivotal moment in its urban planning and transformation. These sessions allow us to incorporate successful experiences, innovative ideas, and specialized perspectives that strengthen the work being carried out by the local government.” He added that “urban regeneration must go beyond physical design to include social cohesion, innovation, environmental sustainability, and the direct involvement of citizens.”
Teresa Mañueco, Director of Fundación Moeve, said that “initiatives like the City 360º forum are essential for fostering open, shared dialogue about the future of our cities, placing people, place, and sustainability at the center.” She stressed that “Santa Cruz de Tenerife has a unique opportunity to rethink its urban development through an inclusive, innovative lens committed to the well-being of current and future generations.”
A platform for shared knowledge and reflection
The program will be divided into two sessions. In the morning, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., keynote talks and panel discussions will be held, open to the public with seating for up to 200 attendees.
In the afternoon, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., a participatory diagnostic workshop—limited to 50 participants—will gather input and perspectives on the city’s future urban development.
The second City 360º forum aims to expand knowledge, foster debate, and launch a collaborative reflection process to advance a more sustainable, innovative, inclusive, and people-centered urban model.
This year’s edition continues to offer a broad, integrated perspective on Santa Cruz’s urban sustainability, with particular focus on the future development of the refinery site—one of the city’s most significant strategic challenges.
Leading speakers and standout case studies
The event will feature a lineup of high-level international and national speakers sharing best practices and real-world success stories in urban regeneration, innovation, and city transformation.
Among them is Jenny Andersson, an internationally recognized expert in public policy analysis, social innovation, and urban transformation processes, alongside other leading professionals in the field.
Through presentations and case studies drawn from a range of urban contexts, the forum will address key issues such as urban regeneration, sustainability, innovation in city models, and the role of community and civic participation in building more resilient, livable urban environments.
Participation in the second City 360º forum is free of charge, with prior registration required until capacity is reached for both the conference sessions and the afternoon workshop.
