- Consolidated grants that have supported 77 social projects in the Canary Islands to date and 512 globally
The event was attended by almost all the members of the jury, chaired by Candelaria Delgado, Councilor for Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Children and Families of the Government of the Canary Islands, who, together with the head of Fundación Moeve in the Canary Islands, Belén Machado, was also accompanied by the Deputy of the Common, Lola Padrón; the Councilor for Social Action, Citizen Participation, Volunteering and Inclusion of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Águeda Fumero; the Councilor for Social Action and President of IMAS of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Charín González; the Councilor for Social Welfare, Equality, Care and Health of the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Carmen Luz Vargas; the head of the Tenerife Isla Solidaria program, Beatriz Sicilia, and Vicente Martínez, representing the professionals of Moeve.
During her speech, Candelaria Delgado remarked that “through the recognition of these three social entities, the work, which is often done silently, led by so many organizations in the Canary Islands, is made visible. These entities remind us of the importance of caring for others. Through their constant and daily work, they bring about a change in the lives of hundreds and hundreds of people who live in our islands." “In the twenty years of history of these awards, what Fundación Moeve has sought is not only to give financial recognition to the work and effort of a particular social entity for the benefit of society and the most disadvantaged groups, but also to provide them with a more solid support by supporting them along the way, trying to give them the maximum visibility to their projects and making them known to the public."
For her part, Belén Machado, congratulated the three award-winning entities for “projects that will undoubtedly play an important role in the groups to which they are addressed: migrants, people with addictions and people with functional diversity, helping to make this a fairer and more inclusive world."
She also referred to “these Awards, for the first time under the name of Fundación Moeve, formerly Fundación Cepsa, but which keep their spirit intact, trying, edition after edition, to improve the quality of life of the most vulnerable groups. These awards were created for people, especially those most in need, but also to awaken solidarity, to highlight it and to recognize it."
Winning projects
The Canaria Maín Foundation received an award for its project 'Confía en Maín' (Trust in Main), an initiative that will improve the quality of life of women and young migrants in a situation of extreme vulnerability due to their lack of legal status in Spain. It will offer training (Spanish language learning, job counseling, digital skills, and practical skills), counseling on immigration issues, job placement, mediation, and the promotion of a support network among participants through coexistence activities and cultural visits. The trophy was received by the director of the entity, Antonio Molina, from Candelaria Delado and Carmen Luz Vargas, in the company of Argenis Ceballos, a Moeve professional who has sponsored the entity.
The Cesica Foundation Project Hombre will implement its 'Project Moneiba' initiative. In this way, it will provide comprehensive care to drug-dependent women in socially-vulnerable situations in the Canary Islands through the outpatient and housing resources of Project Hombre. It will include therapeutic care for going to treatment, safe housing, initial support with active listening, harm reduction and social, health and judicial coordination. The director of the entity, María del Carmen Lázaro, received the award from Charín González, Águeda Fumero and Belén Machado, also accompanied by the project's solidarity sponsor, Esther Pérez.
For its part, Adacea Tenerife will carry out its project 'Therapeutic care and ecological awareness' to improve the quality of life of people with acquired brain damage and their families, offering individualized care for rehabilitation and/or functional maintenance through physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. In addition, they will support the personal independence of this group by providing support products for personal use and practical workshops to encourage independent living, which will also include environmental awareness for more responsible management of resources at home. The trophy was presented by Lola Padrón, Beatriz Sicilia, and Vicente Martínez to Arturo Rincón, president of the Association, with Yanira Díaz as solidarity sponsor.
The three awarded entities in the Canary Islands, selected from a total of 61 nominations presented in this edition, will share a total of 75,000 euros to carry out their projects over the next year. According to their calculations, 195 people will benefit directly in the archipelago, while 470 will benefit indirectly. With them, 77 projects have already been awarded in the Canary Islands in the history of the Social Value Awards, with a total contribution of 787,000 euros.
Overall, since its creation in 2005, the Fundación has contributed more than 5.25 million euros to 512 social entities.
