- Fundación Cepsa seeks to promote projects that combine social aspects with a 'green twist' in energy.
- This edition of the Social Value Awards will distribute up to 65,000 euros in the region.
Fundación Cepsa has convened social entities of Campo de Gibraltar this September to a meeting held at the La Línea de la Concepción Convention Center to answer questions from non-governmental organizations about the 2022 edition of the Social Value Awards, especial about how to combine social projects with a just ecological transition that reaches all sectors of society.
The meeting was attended by about twenty associations from the region. They heard from Estrella Blanco, head of Fundación Cepsa in Campo de Gibraltar, about how to give social initiatives a ‘green twist’. For the second year, the jury will give special consideration to projects that help groups in vulnerable situations and are related to sustainability, biodiversity, emissions reduction, mobility, energy transition, and the circular economy.
During her presentation, Estrella Blanco stressed that "the commitment of Fundación Cepsa to Campo de Gibraltar is solid and thanks to the Social Value Awards not only recognizes the valuable work of social organizations but also helps them to realize their projects and reach the most vulnerable sectors of society, which is the main objective."
In this edition, Fundación Cepsa has an endowment of 435,000 euros to distribute among the winning projects, with 65,000 euros going to Campo de Gibraltar. Social entities may submit initiatives requesting funding of a maximum of 15,000 euros.
These awards are open to social projects undertaken in Madrid, the Canary Islands, Huelva, Campo de Gibraltar, Portugal and Colombia, geographical areas in which Cepsa and its Foundation have significant activity and where they have established close ties and relations with the community.
With these awards, Fundación Cepsa recognizes the work of different organizations that seek to improve the quality of life of a broad spectrum of social groups: socially vulnerable individuals, the unemployed, the sick, people with physical or intellectual disabilities, ethnic minorities, children, teenagers and young adults, the elderly and victims of gender violence, among others.
The decision reached by each of the local panels, which include representatives from institutions working in the field of social action, will be announced in November. Next, Cepsa professionals will choose five more winning projects
through the Special Employee Award, and will also work alongside the participating entities by acting as solidarity sponsors for all aspiring initiatives in the Social Value Awards.
Since it was first held in 2005, these awards have handed out nearly four million euros to 424 projects to help improve the quality of life of over 65,000 people.
