Fundación Cepsa Chair Recognizes UCA Innovative and Research Potential

    • Miguel Torres, Francisco Morales and Manuel Calvo have been recognized for their talent and effort by the Fundación Cepsa Chair.
    • The aim of the Fundación Cepsa Chair is to promote and incentivize education, research and the transfer of technology.

The Fundación Cepsa Chair has announced the winners of its 2021 awards at the Universidad de Cádiz (UCA). Awards are given for academic degree theses, research projects, patents and publications related to the energy and sustainability sector.

The committee of experts has chosen to recognize these projects for their innovation and originality, their scientific-technological approach, and their importance and applicability.

This year, the Fundación Cepsa Chair's joint committee has recognized Miguel Torres García in the Scientific-Technical Article category for his article:
Experimental Analysis of Late Direct Injection Combustion Mode in a Compression-Ignition Engine Fueled With Biodiesel/Diesel Blend.

Manuel Jesús Calvo Acosta has also been recognized in the Final Thesis Project category for his work Pre-design of a Power Generation Plant through Solar + Biomass Hybridization.

Finally, in the invention patents category, Francisco Morales Sánchez has been recognized for his work Direct Manufacture of Thermochromic Products With High VO2 Load.

On this occasion, an extraordinary special mention was given to Clemente Villalba for his master's thesis Project to Increase the Processing Capacity of the Solvent Distillation Unit at the Gibraltar-San Roque Refinery.

This meeting of the Joint Committee was attended by María Jesús Mosquera, the Vice-Rector of Scientific and Technology Policy at UCA, and part of her team. The meeting also served to review the actions conducted by the Fundación Cepsa Chair at the University of Cadiz throughout 2021 and to present the action plan for 2022.

Since its inception in 2005, the Cátedra Prize’s activity has focused on promoting and incentivizing aspects linked to education, research, outreach and the transfer of knowledge. The relationship between the University of Cadiz and Cepsa dates back to the founding of the College of Technical Industrial Engineering in Algeciras, and gained momentum when the School became the Polytechnic School in 1988. That year it became known as the Higher School of Engineering of Algeciras. Since then, the two institutions have collaborated on numerous occasions, and have signed a wide range of specific agreements.

The Fundación Cepsa Chairs

Fundación Cepsa Chairs at the Universities of Cadiz, Huelva, Seville, La Laguna, and Polytechnic in Madrid, are continually strengthened thanks to the contributions and involvement of the Company's professionals and the academic institutions committed to improving research, training, knowledge flow and innovation.

Fundación Cepsa Chairs have allowed thousands of students to approach the labor world and bring university professors closer to the reality of the energy and chemical sectors. The exchange of knowledge and experience between Cepsa professionals, university teachers, and students has meant, for two decades, the professional enrichment of all of them. For all these reasons, today Cepsa is a great ally of said universities.
