- They will take place every Saturday morning and will be free for vulnerable groups and anyone who wishes to accompany them
This program invites NGOs on the island to bring their groups to explore the biodiversity of this botanical garden in the capital of Tenerife, as well as anyone who wishes to accompany them. It's a free activity, but those who would like to take part in it need to sign up in advance at www.palmetumtenerife.es
The mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, expressed his appreciation for this initiative, stating that "we're making this unique space accessible to the entire population, so that they can experience the rich vegetation, textures, and aromas that change with each season. The Palmetum is one of Santa Cruz's natural treasures, and we’re very proud of it. That's why we encourage everyone to take this opportunity to experience it up close.”
Belén Machado, head of Fundación Cepsa in the Canary Islands, highlighted that, “at Fundación Cepsa, one of our core focuses is on people, while another is biodiversity. This wonderful initiative merges both by introducing vulnerable groups to this botanical treasure in the capital of Tenerife and allowing anyone who wishes to accompany them. Together, they will enjoy a Saturday morning where they can spend quality time together and learn about the rich biodiversity of the environment, guided by specialized monitors.”
Javier Rivero, the delegate of the Parque Marítimo responsible for managing the Palmetum, expressed his gratitude to Fundación Cepsa for supporting this program that lets people "experience this garden up close, which is also undergoing significant renovations in some areas, thanks to the collaboration of Fundación Cepsa."
The tour of the Palmetum will take place every Saturday at 10:30 am and will last approximately one and a half hours. Visits will be tailored to the needs of the participants, with sign language interpreters and mobility assistance throughout the tour. Accessibility services can be requested in advance at info@palmetumsantacruz.com.
