Awards presented to entities recognized by Fundación Moeve's 2025 Social Value Awards in the Canary Islands

    • Cáritas Diocesana Canarias, Fundación Canaria Sonsoles Soriano, and CEAR Canarias receive 75,000 euros to carry out three projects with a real positive impact that transforms lives
    • These well-established awards have so far driven 80 social projects on the islands and 527 worldwide
At the award ceremony for its 2025 Social Value Awards in the Canary Islands, Fundación Moeve today recognized three initiatives that stand out for their ability to transform vulnerable situations and promote a more just, inclusive, and sustainable society. The award-winning projects, driven by the Fundación Canaria Sonsoles Soriano, Cáritas Diocesana Canarias, and CEAR Canarias, reflect the diversity and commitment of the Canary Islands social fabric, as well as Fundación Moeve's commitment to promoting initiatives that generate real positive impact.

From the right of people with disabilities to live independently, to fostering volunteer work and the creating job opportunities for young migrants, the Social Value Awards once again placed people at the center.

The three organizations were honored this morning at an event held in the capital of Tenerife, with a large turnout of third sector entities, as well as the presence of most of the jury members of the jury.

A jury chaired by Candelaria Delgado, Minister of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Children and Families of the Government of the Canary Islands, who, together with the head of Fundación Moeve in the Canary Islands, Belén Machado, was also accompanied at the event by the Deputy of the Commons, Lola Padrón; the Councilor for Social Action, Citizen Participation, Volunteering and Inclusion of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Águeda Fumero; the Councilor for Social Action and president of the IMAS of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Charín González; the head of the Tenerife Isla Solidaria program, Beatriz Sicilia, and Rosa Santoro, representing Moeve's professionals.

“We celebrate 21 years of the Social Value Awards, which have made it possible to promote 80 projects in the Canary Islands. The awards were created to improve people's quality of life, especially those who are most vulnerable, but also to inspire solidarity, highlight it, and recognize it. For Fundación Moeve, it is a privilege to recognize and support the tireless work of NGOs, whose daily dedication transforms realities and demonstrates that solidarity generates real positive impact, creates opportunities, and builds a fairer and more inclusive future, leaving no one behind.”

During her speech, Candelaria Delgado emphasized that "it has not been easy to choose among so many projects, because if there is one thing that abounds in this land, it is commitment, solidarity, and ability to transform lives." This year, the award winners represent the courage to act where others only see difficulties, and remind us that social value is built with concrete actions that improve our surroundings.” "Today we are not only presenting awards; we celebrate the strength of solidarity," she emphasized, while highlighting the "creation of support networks between the company and its environment by Fundación Moeve."

The three award-winning entities, selected from a total of 45 applications presented in the Archipelago, will share 75,000 euros to carry out their initiatives over the next year. According to their own calculations, these projects will directly benefit 1,100 people, while indirectly reaching 22,980. With these, 80 projects have already been awarded in the Canary Islands throughout the history of the Social Value Awards, with a total contribution of 862,000 euros.

Projects awarded in 2025

“The Home I Dream Of”, presented by the Fundación Canaria Sonsoles Soriano, aims to guarantee the right to an independent life for people with intellectual disabilities. Unlike traditional protected apartments, this initiative supports each person in their own home —whether owned or rented— and designs an individualized support plan with them that includes habits of autonomy at home, personal care, health, economic management, and social participation. The project also integrates sustainable practices such as recycling, efficient use of energy, and participation in community actions for environmental conservation. With tools adapted for easy reading and a methodology focused on self-determination, the proposal promotes an autonomous, dignified life, which is fully integrated in the community. The trophy was delivered by Candelaria Delgado and Charín González to Georgette Bugnion, president of the NGO, with Javier Orrillo as solidarity sponsor.

For its part, Cáritas Diocesana de Canarias was awarded for the “Bentayga Project”, a strategic commitment to strengthening and supporting volunteer work, a fundamental pillar in caring for people and families in situations of severe poverty and social exclusion. The initiative promotes comprehensive support for volunteers from the moment they join until they leave, promoting continuous training, spaces for listening and reflection, a gender perspective, and a culture of care that strengthens the response capacity of teams throughout the province of Las Palmas. In a context of increasing social vulnerability, Cáritas will ensure that the entity's more than one thousand volunteers can act with strong tools, common criteria, and continuous support. The trophy was collected by Ana Margarita Rivero, assistant to the General Secretariat, from Águeda Fumero and Belén Machado, and in the company of Jorge de Castro, a Moeve professional who has sponsored the entity.

The Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid (CEAR Canarias) was recognized for its project “Becas Renueva”, a pioneering initiative that links social inclusion and fair energy transition. The program, sponsored by Jesús Méndez, offers young migrant wards who have left care the opportunity to access training in renewable energies by eliminating the economic barriers that normally prevent them from continuing their studies. The scholarships cover accommodation, meals, transportation, and training material, ensuring that they can focus on their learning. The proposal also includes educational support, psychosocial support, and labor support, facilitating job placement for those who complete the itinerary. Sara Hernández, Technician in Marketing and Alliances with Companies at the entity, collected the award, presented by Lola Padrón, Beatriz Sicilia, and Rosa Santoro.

These three winning organizations in the Canary Islands join the winners in Madrid, Huelva, Campo de Gibraltar, and Portugal. Fundación Moeve allocated 375,000 euros for this edition to support the development of projects that contribute to improving the well-being of people in situations of social vulnerability, with an emphasis on projects that promote inclusion and a just ecological transition.

Since the creation of these Awards in 2005, Fundación Moeve has received 5,883 proposals for projects designed to improve people's lives, distributing 5.6 million euros to 527 of those social initiatives presented, helping more than 114,000 people.
