- The association, winner of the Social Value Award 2023, ensures hot water at their reception center, where they serve more than a hundred people
Through this initiative, the organization has installed up to 11 solar panels in the center in Algeciras, which assists more than one hundred homeless people. Fundación Cruz Blanca carries out this work directly and in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030 and the Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid (CEAR). This has been a crucial initiative in ensuring that there is hot water for all users' daily life and the operation of the shelter itself, as well as an improvement in energy management. In the center that Cruz Blanca Foundation has in Algeciras these people not only receive bed, food and toiletries, but also legal, labor, and psychological assistance among other actions, such as sustainability and energy efficiency workshops that have also been taught thanks to the winning project of the Social Value Award in its last edition. The Foundation has stated that "we are very grateful to Fundación Cepsa for the award. It was very important, after the increase in the number of places, that we did not have a shortage of hot water."
Estrella Blanco, head of Fundación Cepsa, who has made this visit, has valued "the necessary work done by Fundación Cruz Blanca, not only giving a roof to people who need it but also resources for their integration in society so that they can move forward."
The Social Value Awards
These awards are one of the stand-out initiatives of Fundación Cepsa. The aim of the awards is to provide support to individuals, associations, and underprivileged sectors of society so as to foster a spirit of solidarity and promote educational and sustainable development through the involvement of Cepsa staff, who sponsor the programs that the associations of the Campo de Gibraltar region submit as candidates to receive the Social Value Awards. The next convocation will be in September 2024.
