Fundación Cepsa concludes the Energy Campus in Campo de Gibraltar with more than a thousand students

• In view of the critical pandemic situation, virtual or face-to-face sessions in classrooms are being maintained for security reasons during the first quarter of the year
• Participation tripled in this edition compared to the previous academic year
• The Energy Campus was also opened this year to secondary schools in the province of Malaga

Fundación Cepsa has completed, once again, its Energy Campus educational program on the energy sector in the Campo de Gibraltar, an initiative that closed with 1,218 participating students- triple the number of students compared to the previous edition- from 18 secondary schools in the Campo de Gibraltar and Malaga, closing the program at the Las Palomas Secondary School in Algeciras.

The objective of this educational program by Fundación Cepsa, which is in its seventh edition, is to show students, with the help of teachers, the evolution of energy throughout the history of mankind, fundamental concepts of energy transition and circular economy, and to connect with the Cepsa value chain. Because of Covid-19, the changes made in the program the previous academic year have been maintained to continue giving this opportunity to schools in Campo de Gibraltar, the rest of the province of Cadiz and this year, as a new initiative, also in Malaga. For this reason, visits to the Cepsa Energy Park in San Roque have not been possible, but virtual or classroom training sessions were held based on the decision of each educational center.

Through this program, Fundación Cepsa teaches the importance of energy in our daily lives, emphasizing the products of Cepsa's energy parks and their multiple applications in daily life.

These training units are aimed at students in the final phase of compulsory secondary education, and those completing Bachillerato (Spanish Baccalaureate) or Ciclos Formativos (vocational) courses. Through the Energy Campus, students learn about the origin of light, energy sources, and the treatment and transformation of crude oil. Topics of note include production at refineries and energy parks, Cepsa's vision as a global energy company, its commitment and responsibility to the environment, including its commitment to sustainability and its reduction of its footprint on the environment and the safety of people, facilities and the surrounding population. Cepsa's commitment to the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is also addressed at the Energy Campus.

The head of Fundación Cepsa, Estrella Blanco, noted that "the Energy Campus familiarizes secondary school and Spanish Baccalaureate students with the energy sector and its direct involvement in our daily lives, in an educational and friendly way. Despite Covid-19 and thanks also to the interest of schools and teachers, we have been able to hold the Energy Campus for another year, adapted to the safety protocols that the pandemic necessitated.

The Energy Campus is a training initiative that Fundación Cepsa undertakes with schools in Campo de Gibraltar and which has benefited approximately 3,980 students since its inception.
