- The entity focused its lines of action on the social, environmental and scientific/educational fields
- These actions affirm its commitment to society in the province of Huelva
This figure reaches 57,565 people if we also take into account those who benefited indirectly from the Foundation's commitment to volunteerism.
To this end, last year Fundación Cepsa participated in 43 initiatives in the province, in which it invested nearly €545,000 over the course of the year. Its most emblematic and consolidated social activities include the Social Value Awards, focused on supporting vulnerable groups and promoting values of solidarity among the company's professionals. The funding for this initiative this year amounted to €65,000, as the six winning entities in the 2022 edition in Huelva were joined by a seventh winner of the Special Cepsa Employee Award.
Other outstanding social actions from the year include Fundación Cepsa’s collaboration with three other foundations to deliver fuel cards to the Food Bank, which has been able to collect surplus foodstuffs donated by manufacturers and supermarkets and deliver them to the most vulnerable groups.
Furthermore, Fundación Cepsa is particularly proud of the participation of Cepsa professionals in Huelva in different volunteer actions, in collaboration with the Huelva City Council and the Crecer con Futuro association.
Educational scientific field
Among the most outstanding initiatives promoted by Fundación Cepsa in the educational field in 2022 was the second edition of its “ProFormación” scholarships, which benefited 15 Vocational Training students in Huelva. These scholarships offered €2,500 per student to help cover the costs of tuition, school supplies, books, transportation, cafeteria, etc.
Leadership of the Fundación Cepsa Chair at UHU
The purpose of the Fundación Cepsa Chair is to become a meeting point between different disciplines and drive the transfer of knowledge from the University of Huelva to society.
The commitment to research, training, scientific dissemination, and knowledge transfer was evident through the wide variety of actions carried out by the Fundación Cepsa Chair of Ecological Transition and Innovation at the University of Huelva.
These actions included support for Motostudent's Moto ETSI student project, based on the design, development, and construction of a competition motorcycle.
In order to support new lines of research or maintain existing ones in the field of energy transition, sustainability, energy efficiency, circular economy, renewable energies, and biofuels, this year the Fundación Cepsa Chair launched a call for expression of interest for developing micro projects; nine projects were ultimately selected to determine whether they can be scaled up in the future.
Environmental actions
Collaboration with different levels of government is the key to the success of the environmental actions carried out by Fundación Cepsa.
Some of the star projects in the province include actions to protect urban and peri-urban ecosystems together with the municipalities of Palos de la Frontera, Huelva, and Moguer; protecting natural environments along with the Regional Government of Andalusia and its Sustainability Delegation; and restoring the lagoons in front of the Muelle de las Carabelas with the Provincial Council of Huelva.
Protection for and research on Laguna Primera de Palos continues to grow; it receives thousands of visits each year, and is the site of bird banding and vegetation studies by experts in biology, botany, and ornithology.
Fundación Cepsa is open to hearing about projects that can help achieve its objectives in the three fields in which it works: the environment, social support, and the scientific/educational fields.
