- Thanks to the donation made by Fundación Cepsa and the contribution of the company's employees, 3,200 people will receive basic goods for two months
- Fundación Cepsa has also launched corporate volunteer actions to support the most vulnerable groups

Cepsa professionals have donated €60,000 to the Federación Española de Bancos de Alimentos (FESBAL, Spanish Federation of Food Banks) to help meet the urgent need to purchase and distribute basic food products to the groups most disadvantaged because of the coronavirus pandemic. Moreover, Fundación Cepsa has decided to add an additional €60,000 to the €200,000 donation it made at the beginning of this month.
Thanks to these donations, food banks will be able to purchase a total of 480,000 kilos of basic goods. Specifically, the contribution made by Cepsa professionals and Fundación Cepsa, will give 3,200 people access to food over the next two months. Both donations will be distributed among food banks in Madrid, Huelva, Campo de Gibraltar and the Canary Islands.
According to FESBAL, there are currently more than 1 million people in need of food in Spain. In the current climate, FESBAL continues to focus its efforts on the fight against hunger and remains in constant contact with federal food banks, as well as charitable entities, who work directly with the most vulnerable groups in need of food aid.
Miguel Fernández, CEO of FESBAL, points out that "for the Federación Española de Bancos de Alimentos, these extraordinary donations, like the one generously offered by Fundación Cepsa and Cepsa Professionals, are vital in the current situation we are facing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and will allow us to continue supporting the 310,000 families that we currently work with. These donations will allow us to maintain warehouse stocks, buy more food and distribute it among our regular charitable collaborators so that they can distribute it to those who need it most. To do this, we need monetary donations to alleviate a lack of resources in order to continue caring for the most disadvantaged."
For her part, Teresa Mañueco, director of Fundación Cepsa: “we appreciate the collaboration and commitment made by Cepsa professionals who have contributed to the work carried out by food banks today more than ever. At Fundación Cepsa, we have decided to match this generosity with a new additional donation, making the total food donation 480,000 kilos. This is equivalent to giving 3,200 people access to food for the next two months.
The collaboration with FESBAL is part of Fundación Cepsa's action plan to alleviate the effects of coronavirus. Additionally, with the objective of supporting the health authorities, Fundación Cepsa has supplied the regional governments of Madrid, Andalusia and the Canary Islands with a supply of fuel vouchers worth €50,000 to assist in medical travel associated with COVID-19. These vouchers will also assist in the travel of other professionals that are also actively involved in dealing with this crisis. The organization has also donated €15,000 to the Red Cross to assist in urgent medical transport resulting from the pandemic.
Corporate volunteering
In the framework of the measures promoted by Fundación Cepsa, within its corporate volunteering program, Voluntas, the organization has launched several online volunteering initiatives to support the elderly and the sick. Cepsa professionals can collaborate by offering support by telephone, an initiative started by Cáritas, and sending encouragement cards promoted by the organization NadieSolo. These types of volunteering activities began in Madrid and will gradually be extended to other social projects being carried out in the regions where the company is most active.
Cepsa, has focused on ensuring the supply of energy and chemicals
In parallel with this package of measures being promoted by its Foundation, Cepsa is continuing all of its efforts to maintain the necessary energy supply which is essential for both homes and public spaces (hospitals, security forces, stations, ports, airports, etc.) as well as for ensuring the supply of raw materials for manufacturing hygiene products and detergents, which the company produces in its petrochemical facilities. Ensuring this essential service is its main objective today, as well as protecting people's health at all times, collaborating in halting the spread of the virus and maintaining constant coordination with the authorities of the different countries in which it operates.
