- The mayor of the city presides over the ceremony of presenting the fuel vouchers, which will benefit 53 entities of the municipality, thanks to a collaboration agreement signed between the two institutions.
Fundación Cepsa has delivered, under a collaboration agreement signed with the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, through the Municipal Institute of Social Services (IMAS), 10,000 € in fuel vouchers to 53 social entities of the capital of Tenerife in order to collaborate in providing food and other benefits related to COVID-19.
The presentation ceremony for the associations, held in the Plenary Hall of the City Hall, was chaired by the mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, who was accompanied by the head of Fundación Cepsa in the Canary Islands, Belén Machado, and the Councilor for Social Action, Rosario González.
In his speech, the mayor wanted to thank the involvement of Fundación Cepsa with the city "through a new solidarity initiative, which this time is aimed at the various NGOs operating in the municipality helping vulnerable people."
"This is helping those who help to support these associations by relieving them of current expenses, in this case, for the fuel they use to provide aid or assist people at the various points of delivery of food or assistance to vulnerable families," added Bermúdez.
The head of Fundación Cepsa in the Canary Islands, Belén Machado, included this agreement under "the numerous special actions to try to alleviate the effects of the pandemic that we have been carrying out since its beginning, as we have already done, to give just one example, with the contribution of 114,000 euros to the Canary Islands food banks, between those of Tenerife and Gran Canaria."
"Partnerships, such as the one highlighted at this event today, are of great benefit to society at large. And, in this regard, Fundación Cepsa collaborates with the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife in numerous social, environmental, and cultural actions to benefit the capital of Tenerife and its citizens. A company that is committed to the society around it must necessarily show solidarity," she said.
The beneficiary associations were represented by Benjamín Barba, from the Kairós association, who thanked the initiative "as it represents very large cost savings for the associations and comes at the right time when the demand for aid has increased."
The 230 vouchers, of 100, 50, and 20 euros, are redeemable at Cepsa service stations, and will be distributed among the beneficiary associations based on a calculation of the number of people served by each entity, thanks to the information available to IMAS.
