Fundación Cepsa donates fuel vouchers for COVID-19 healthcare services

    • The company is delivering fuel cards to cover emergency transfers and transportation for health care professionals and other groups that are working against this crisis in the Autonomous Community of Madrid and the Canary Islands. It is also working to do the same in Huelva and Campo de Gibraltar
    • For its part, Cepsa—in addition to working to ensure the continuity of the energy supply—has donated personal protective equipment to the health service of Andalucía this week

Fundación Cepsa has provided the regional authorities of Madrid and the Canary Islands, and soon Andalucía, with a supply of fuel cards worth €50,000 to assist in sanitary transport related to the Covid-19, as well as those of other groups that are also actively working on this crisis.

The company has donated €20,000 specifically to the Health Department of the Autonomous Community of Madrid for the transportation of emergency response teams in mobile ICUs operated by SUMMA 112, the Autonomous Community of Madrid’s Medical Emergency Department, which has 28 mobile ICUs in operation every day to provide urgent and emergency care in the region. SUMMA 112's mobile ICUs, among other resources, are currently transferring patients infected with COVID-19 to hospitals, as well as responding to medical emergencies resulting from other illnesses and causes. These are specialized intensive care units for life-threatening situations.

Cepsa has also donated €10,000 to the Government of the Canary Islands to assist in the necessary transportation taking place these days for both health care workers and other groups with the aim of combating COVID-19. The company is working to donate €10,000 in the coming days to the Delegation of the Regional Government of Andalusia in Huelva and €10,000 to the Sub-delegation of the Andalusian Government in Campo de Gibraltar.

Pablo Busca, manager of SUMMA 112, says: "On behalf of the entire Madrid health service, we are deeply grateful to Fundación Cepsa for their donation: Public-private collaboration is now essential in order to handle this crisis effectively."

In parallel with this package of measures being promoted by its Foundation, Cepsa is continuing all of its efforts to maintain the energy supply—this service is essential both to ensuring the availability of energy required in homes and public spaces (hospitals, security forces, stations, ports, airports, etc.), as well as to ensuring the supply of raw materials for manufacturing sanitary products and detergents, which the company produces in its petrochemical facilities. Ensuring this essential service is its main objective today, as well as protecting people's health at all times, collaborating in halting the spread of the virus and maintaining constant coordination with the authorities of the different countries in which it operates.

This week, the company also donated a supply of personal protective equipment (glasses, gloves and coveralls) to the health management departments of Huelva and Campo de Gibraltar of the Andalusian Health Service (SAS), to help protect healthcare staff in hospitals.
