Fundación Cepsa and UNED Campo de Gibraltar kick off their annual collaboration with the ‘La UNED y la Palabra’ conference

    • This series of conferences that, for the time being, will be held virtually due to the pandemic have resumed.

Fundación Cepsa and the Universidad a Distancia (UNED) of Campo de Gibraltar come together again for their annual collaboration, which allows the university to continue pursuing part of its training plans for another academic year.

For the last 13 years, Fundación Cepsa has helped run the La UNED y la Palabra conferences that bring together great names in Spanish culture, economy, society and science in Algeciras each year. Former speakers include playwright Albert Boadella; attorney Cristina Almeida; scientist and politician Bernat Soria, judge and politician Fernando Grande-Marlaska; and judge Cándido Conde-Pumpido. Covid-19 prevented this series of conferences from taking place last year, but this year they will be held as normal, albeit virtually. The first presentation of 2021 will be this Thursday, at 6 pm. The speaker will be José Alberto González-Ruiz Martinez, Secretary General of the CEOE, who will discuss The keys to economic recovery.

If this year goes as plans, Fundación Cepsa will also recognize the two best academic performances in the fields of Science and Humanities. The winners are granted the UNED + 1 award each year, a scholarship that rewards their achievement and provides financial assistance for their Master's degree.

Estrella Blanco, the head of Fundación Cepsa in the Campo de Gibraltar, emphasized the "commitment" that the institution has "to education in the Campo de Gibraltar, including initiatives such as one, the Energy Campus program and the Fundación Cepsa Chair at the Polytechnic School of Algeciras UCA to name a few."
