Fundación Cepsa and Sagrado Corazón School, hand in hand to reduce the technology gap

    • With the support of the Fundación Cepsa, the Sagrado Corazón School in Puente Mayorga increases its computer equipment.
    • Fundación Cepsa renews its annual collaboration with the educational center.
Fundación Cepsa has closed its annual collaboration with the Puente Mayorga Sagrado Corazón Elementary School in San Roque (Cádiz) ,which this year will be aimed at the acquisition of computer equipmentand training workshops in digital skills for parents and students.

The school’s principal, Alberto Castillo, in a meeting with the head of Fundación Cepsa in Campo de Gibraltar, Estrella Blanco, explained that the pandemic has tested the knowledge and computer management not only of children but also of parents, detecting serious problems to connect to the Internet and help their children to do their homework and follow the classes virtually. In addition it has been detected that many households in vulnerable situations do not have the necessary electronic devices to follow and participate in class today. With this action, Fundación Cepsa promotes the digital transformation of this educational center in collaboration with the educational community and collaborates with the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 4 Quality Education.

Estrella Blanco, head of the Fundación Cepsa in Campo de Gibraltar, has pointed out that "in a highly technological society where computers and internet have become a basic tool in the daily life of the classrooms, the health crisis has shown that the digital gap exists, which occurs mainly in the most vulnerable families and has a negative impact on the education of children".

For his part, Alberto Castillo indicated that "this collaboration with the Fundación Cepsa is very important for us because we are expanding our computer resources given that the resources provided by the Junta de Andalucía are not sufficient, and we are also lending equipment to students who need it".
