The registration period is now open for the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Regional Plastic Arts Biennial Fundación Cepsa

The time slot has already opened for registration and presentation of works in order to take part in the 'Santa Cruz de Tenerife Regional Plastic Arts Biennial - Fundación Cepsa, 2017'. The event, which includes exhibits in the categories of painting, sculpture, photography, creative ceramics, multimedia and new technologies, offers a first prize of €4,000 and a second prize of €2,000. 

Support from Cepsa, which was already in place in 2015, in order to rescue this showcase of art in the Islands, after several years without it being staged, has been renewed on this occasion by Fundación Cepsa, which was set up almost a year ago.

All artists born or resident in the Canary Islands will, until October 04, be able to come together at this biennial. There are no restrictions on the subject and technique to be used, and each participant can register with one work only, which must be original and not presented previously at any event.

Artists interested in participating should register at the Organismo Autónomo de Cultura (OAC) registration office in the Town Hall of Tenerife's capital. The office is located in the La Recova Art Center. Two-dimensional works may not exceed 2.50 x 2.50 meters, or be less than 0.50 x 0.50 meters. Sculptures may not exceed 2 meters in any of its dimensions nor exceed 100 kg in weight. In the case of ceramic works, they must be made of fired glazed or unglazed ceramic, not exceeding 100 centimeters in any of their dimensions.

In addition to the first and second prize, the jury may award up to five honorary mentions without financial value, for the quality of the works or for innovation in the use of techniques.

With the works chosen in a first selection round, an exhibition will be mounted and be put on display at the La Recova Art Center. The terms and conditions also provide for the possibility that the first prize winner may stage an individual exhibition in one of the halls managed by the OAC.

Throughout the history of this Plastic Arts Biennial, renowned and prestigious creative talent such as that of Pedro Gonzalez, Enrique Lite, Maribel Maribel, Pepe Abad, Ramón Díaz or Fernando Poplar have received awards. The event has also served to make us aware of new values in the plastic arts field.
