Fundación Cepsa and Fundación Santa Cruz Sostenible offer Palmetum tours

    • The tours will take place over the Christmas school holidays and every weekend in January

For the second year running, Fundación Cepsa and Fundación Santa Cruz Sostenible are offering free guided tours around the capital city’s botanical gardens, the Palmetum de Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The tours will be given by botanists.

Both organizations want to give the public a chance to discover this treasure of biodiversity in the heart of the city –a project that specializes in palm trees and the only one of its kind in the world. The partnership will enable families to visit this landmark for free during the Christmas school holidays and every weekend throughout January.

This type of initiative aims to attract locals, especially those from Tenerife’s capital, to the gardens which are still unknown to many people. Visitors will be able to find out how the site has evolved from a landfill site to a botanical garden that can be enjoyed by all, resulting in it receiving a Best Practices Award from UNESCO.

Visits will be held on December 28, 29 and 30 and from January 2 through January 7, as well as every weekend in January 2018. Each visit will last two hours and will start at 10am. If there are at least 15 people, visits will also be run in the afternoon at 4pm.
