Fundación Cepsa ran a new event as part of its corporate volunteering program, Voluntas, where it planted 30 trees at Finca de Osorio nature reserve in Doramas Rural Park, Gran Canaria. The initiative was attended by company employees and their families, with a total of 25 attendees.
There was also a seed-planting workshop for children at the island's laurel nursery, where little ones could learn basic concepts about planting and the rural environment. In addition to this event, six shearwaters were released in Bañaderos, on the island's northern coast.
The Foundation chose Finca de Osorio in Doramas Rural Park as the location for these activities, with the aim that Cepsa employees would continue to support the conservation of this space, where they had already conducted environmental activities one year earlier.
Fundación Cepsa's manager in the Canary Islands, Belén Machado, explained that "the Voluntas program is aimed at professionals who want to dedicate some of their time, talent and energy to developing numerous projects, like this one, that benefit society and sustainability, helping to conserve and take care of the environment in order to preserve our natural heritage."
Launched in 2016, the Voluntas volunteer program focuses on five areas of action. In addition to caring for the environment, these include promoting jobs and education, supporting culture, promoting sport and health, and caring for basic needs.
