Fundación Cepsa has chosen the winning projects of its Energy Campus school program, awarding 12 local secondary school students. From a total of 20 collective projects received, the jury selected the 4 most original, innovative and creative works covering different aspects of the world of energy.
Pedro Alemán and Acorán Bello, students at IES Cabo Blanco, were the winners of this edition for their project titled `Extraction pump in oil well and fractional distillation model´. Second prize went to IES Buenavista del Norte, for the work `Solar-powered microwave´, presented by Omar Expósito, Dylano Geers, Óscar Díaz and Ankor Lekuona. For its part, IES Alcalde Bernabé Rodríguez won the third prize, with its ´Model for a refinery´ presented by Isis Delgado and Coraima San Antonio.
The eight students who won the first three prizes received a state-of-the-art laptop computer, while the fourth-place finishers, the team made up of Gabriel Luis, Cristian León, Edgar Lima and Alexander González, from IES San Marcos, received a tablet. The individual prizes were voided because no project was submitted.
The winning projects, involving various themes, included a model of a refinery and its various processes, a solar-powered microwave, an extraction pump in an oil well with an associated distillation tower, and a simulation of a sustainable city.
The ‘Energy Campus’, an educational program aimed at students from the 2nd cycle of ESO, Baccalaureate and Vocational Education Cycles, is focused on the learning of subjects related to the world of energy, oil and petrochemicals, via a web platform. This training was accompanied by a visit to Cepsa's facilities in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, including a group educational activity and a guided tour.
