- The Asociación Nuevo Futuro, the Club Deportivo Támbara, the Asociación Síndrome de Down and the Asociación Juvenil Bentejuí will each receive 2,581 euros

Fundación Cepsa has chosen the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Book Fair to hand over today, to four NGOs, the 10,324 euros raised in the seventh Casa de la Navidad. The New Future Association, Támbara Sports Club, the Down's Syndrome Association and the Bentejuí Youth Association are the organizations chosen to share the donation, which will be allocated to various social projects.
The event took place in the Fundación Cepsa tent in San Telmo park and was attended by Cepsa's Canary Islands director, José Manuel Fernández-Sabugo, the Social Policy Advisor for the Gran Canaria Council, Carmen Luz Vargas, and the Head of Service for the Prevention Programs and Protection of Minors of the Government of the Canary Islands, José Pereira.
The head of the energy company stressed the importance of making the work of the winning associations visible and added that "support for these types of social projects would not be possible without the collaboration of the people of Gran Canaria, who every year flock to the Casa de la Navidad for an unmissable date with solidarity".
The spirit of the projects
The Las Palmas Asociación Nuevo Futuro (New Future Association) will allocate the donation to the 'Alternative Youth Space with ICT' project, through which it will acquire computer equipment to provide children and adolescents at risk of exclusion with an alternative space to the street, which will strengthen their personal, social and emotional development.
For its part, the Club Deportivo Támbara (Támbara Sports Club) will invest the funds in its two basketball schools for young people with autism between the ages of seven and 21. The Club offers training during the school year at the Colegio La Salle Antúnez school and at the Instituto Siete Palmas. The donation will enable sports equipment to be purchased, coaches to be hired and the educational psychology department to be improved.
In the case of the Las Palmas Asociación Síndrome de Down (Down's Syndrome Association), the amount will be allocated to improving access to work for people with Down's Syndrome, one of the main objectives of the organization. In order to do this, they will focus on adequate training at all levels, in accordance with the preferences and capabilities of the users, so that, subsequently, they will be able to successfully integrate into the labor market. This is an ongoing project that, through ICT, will continue to adapt to the needs of its users.
Lastly, the Asociación Juvenil Bentejuí (Bentejuí Youth Association) will launch its project ‘Vive tu barrio’ (Here's to your neighborhood), through which it aims to improve the education of minors who reside in the Tamaraceite district. In order to do this, it will promote the active participation of children through leisure, intercultural, charitable and healthy activities, developing their values and promoting gender equality among them.
The Casa de la Navidad
The Fundación Cepsa Casa de la Navidad, which counts on the support of the capital's city council, the inter-island council and the regional Government, has become a tradition for Gran Canaria families. This initiative took place for the seventh time last Christmas in the Las Arenas shopping center.
